I thought the day would never come, but my small town finally got its first cannabis dispensary! For the last year or so there have been a series of town hall meetings, as the local old timers tried to reconcile the new state-wide laws about growing and selling pot.
After being demonized for so long, it was a hard sell for this town.
All around the state dispensaries have been opening up left and right, and until last week we were still trapped in a more primitive era. After enough debate the measure finally passed the city council, but not because they softened their stance on cannabis, it was just for the money. The amount of tax revenue a single cannabis dispensary can create is enough to give a big financial boost to a town this small. Regardless of their motives, I am just stoked to finally have access to a legal cannabis dispensary. I have been an everyday pot smoker for the last ten or twelve years, but until now I always had to buy my marijuana illegally. I still had easy access, and the prices were actually far lower than what we find at the cannabis dispensary, but it was stressful. It is so nice to be able to take my time shopping for cannabis, and not have to worry about getting in trouble with the cops. Also I have to say that I feel like a kid in a candy store, because there are hundreds of kinds of cannabis there and I want to taste all of them!
