Working for a landscaping company is not easy work.
All of us here are a team and the two of us require the effort of every coworker to get our tasks done and finished on time every single day, otherwise the two of us lose money from late payments.
A client isn’t going to pay us early if the two of us take an extra day to get all of the contracted labor completed. This is in the hottest weather imaginable when it’s the middle of July or September, praying it’s not also a day of intense thunderstorms and rain showers. The inclement weather stops us dead in our tracks with our patrons. If it’s pouring to the point where the two of us can’t use our gas or electric equipment, or there’s so much lightning that the two of us could get struck and killed, you can’t do anything about it. This isn’t labor that’s suitable for pretty much everyone, especially those who are faint at heart with manual labor and intense outdoor heat. I have a coworker who easily won’t last until the end of the year, and that’s being liberal with our estimate. She drinks occasionally before coming in for her shift, leaving him sloppy and unbalanced on a ladder of all things. Recently he’s been smoking weed in her motorcar and showing up for labor with red eyeah and slurred speech. I’m sure there are some tasks out there that can be suitably done while consuming cannabis, however landscaping labor is not among those examples. He’s a detriment to the entire team when she shows up for labor so high that she can’t do basic tasks that the two of us all must do to pull our expected weight here. It’s a group effort and the chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
