I first developed psoriasis on my elbows and knees almost thirty years ago.
Initially, I believed it was a temporary rash or even a brush burn.
I tried a variety of ointments without success. I finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed with psoriasis. It is an autoimmune disorder that causes a rapid buildup of skin cells. The area can become red, sore, itchy and have a scaly appearance. It’s uncomfortable and somewhat embarrassing. The doctor gave me a prescription for some type of ointment. When I went to pick up the prescription at the pharmacy, they told me that the cost was two hundred dollars. The tube was only four ounces. There was no way I was paying that kind of money for such a small amount. For several years, I got by with over-the-counter remedies. Some of them would work for a little while and then the psoriasis would come right back. A friend of mine recommended cannabis. I did some research and learned that a lot of people are having a tremendous amount of success treating psoriasis symptoms with cannabis topicals. I took the necessary steps to qualify for my medical marijuana card and immediately visited the dispensary. I was amazed by the variety of products available. I’ve found that cannabis-infused topicals are not only effective at alleviating psoriasis but also wonderful as a treatment for pain, inflammation, sunburn, skincare and bee stings. The products are far less expensive than prescription medication yet more beneficial. There are no harmful side-effects and they don’t smell like medicine.
